Day 3 Evening/Day 4 (June18th) Budapest

Evening Day 3:

Tuesday night in Budapest was probably our best night yet.  After we toured several museums during the day, the evening was left for us to explore the city on our own.  We broke up into several groups to eat dinner and then met back up for a cruise up and down the Danube River.  The highlight of the cruise probably came before the actual cruise when ten of us had to sprint through downtown Budapest while being chased by dogs so the boat wouldn't leave us.  The cruise was very cool too though.   Every building on the river is lit up at night.  Most of the buildings are significant governmental or parliamentary buildings and hold a lot of history in them.

(See more pictures in earlier blog post.)

After the boat cruise, a group of us headed to an old "ruin pub" in downtown Budapest.  A "ruin pub"  is an old house or building that was damaged during WW2 and then turned into a giant pub.  This particular ruin pub was call Szimpla.  Szimpla was a great pub where we enjoyed drinks and laughs throughout the late night and early morning.  We capped off the night with a nice trip McDonalds......why?  Because Mcdonalds rocks, and that's a universal statement.

Day 4:

Day 4 was a long one.  We had  a business meeting in the morning and another in the evening.  These meetings consisted of meeting with several professors to hear them present about the economic history and current condition of Hungary and Bosnia.  After the morning presentation we enjoyed lunch on our own before meeting back up for another business visit.  For this visit, we met at the European Commission building where we listened to another presentation that dover a little deeper into Hungarian Economic Policies and Figures.  With day 4 in the books and a long over due nap for each of us, where ready to hit the town of Budapest for another night.
